The following Wwise version are now supported with MacOS Catalina.

  • Wwise 2019.1.9 or newer minor version.
  • Wwise 2019.2.2 or newer minor version.
  • Wwise 2021.1 or newer.

If you are taking any Wwise certifications (Wwise 2019.1.0), you can download Wwise 2019.1.9 to newer minor version for compatibility.

For earlier versions of Wwise, keep reading.

The issue:

  • Wwise Authoring cannot be verified in macOS Catalina, as it has not been Code Signed or Notarized.
  • This was already the case, but security is getting tighter with macOS Catalina, and even tighter starting with version 10.15.3.
  • A dialogue window appears when trying to launch an application that has not been Code Signed or Notarized:

The workarounds:

The Control-Click & Open Workaround

  • In Finder, select Applications (either from the window, the Go Menu, or by inputting 'Command+Shift+A').
  • Open the Audiokinetic folder.
  • Open the Wwise folder corresponding to your current version of Wwise.

  • Right-click on Wwise and select Open.

  • A dialogue window is displayed stating that the developer of Wwise cannot be verified. Clicking the Open button allows you to launch Wwise despite its unverified status.

  • This is only required once per Wwise version, if requested by the system.

The Security & Privacy Workaround

  • Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.

  • In System Preferences, click Security & Privacy.

  • A message is displayed with an Open Anyway button. Click the Open Anyway button.
  • This is only required once per Wwise version, if requested by the system.
