Interactive Music Symposium

Event details

Presentation formats:

• Presentation: Typically 45 minutes long, followed by a 15-30 minute community Q&A. We find that having 1-3 speakers per presentation works best for these.

• Panel: Typically 1 hour of moderated discussion, followed by a 30-minute community Q&A. We find that having 4-5 panelists (including the panel moderator) works best for these.

Please note that we're flexible on format & length of presentations, you'll just have to let us know in your proposal if you'd like to go outside of what's written above so that we can plan for it!

If you'd like to see talks from previous Interactive Music Symposiums, please see this page!

Audience experience level: With the Interactive Music Symposium, our hope is to introduce as many linear composers to non-linear music as we can, so our past panels and presentations have generally been geared towards this audience. The Audiokinetic community attends as well, representing a wide spectrum of audio professionals seeking content on various topics related to interactive audio - sound designers, music composers, audio programmers, audio directors, and more.

Language: Proposals and presentations must be delivered in English. If you have a talk you would like to deliver in Chinese, French, Japanese, or Korean, please contact us.

Time commitment:

• Presenter: Please factor in the time it will take you to prepare your presentation and any accompanying material (videos, slides, etc.) Regarding technical time commitment before your presentation, you will be expected to take part in a 30-minute tech test with our livestream technician as well as a 15-30 minute dry run.

• Panelist: There is typically very little preparation time for panelists. Regarding technical time commitment before your panel, you will be expected to take part in a 15-minute tech test with our livestream technician.

• Panel moderator: As a moderator, you'll be expected to work with the Audiokinetic team to brainstorm topics and questions, as well as prep the panelists before the panel. You'll be expected to take part in a 30-minute tech test with our livestream technician.
